My name is Brianna Smith, and I am a teacher in New Jersey. My official career in teaching has only been 3 years long, but it is something I have had a true passion towards ever since I can remember. Almost any job I've ever had has involved helping kids grow - birthday party host, gymnastics instructor, camp counsellor, and babysitting/nannying.

         When I started my career in teaching, I worked at a charter school in south jersey. I was an academic interventionist who worked in small groups across grade levels k through 5 to help struggling learners. A lot of my teaching during this time was centered around classroom management and relationship building because a lot of my students faced trauma at a young age. I am so grateful for my time at this school, for the relationships I built with staff and students, and the lessons I learned as an educator. I decided to move on from this school for a number of reasons, but the biggest one was that I wanted to teach my own classroom at an early elementary level.

         Fast forward to 2019, when I was offered a position as a Kindergarten teacher in my dream district! I of course accepted and that brings us to today. I feel like I am truly where I belong, and I can continue to grow as an educator, have a positive impact on my students, and hopefully help inspire other educators as well. 

​

         Creating resources is something I came across in my first year of teaching, when I began to doubt whether teaching was something I really wanted (yes the girl who just oozed about how teaching is her passion had a serious phase of doubt - my first year was TOUGH.) I fell in love with creating things for my small groups. I've always been creative and I felt like this was a GREAT creative outlet for me that reconnected me to my love of teaching. I started out slow, and then by year two began really building my Teachers Pay Teachers store with the things I felt I needed in my own class.

          Outside of teaching, I spend most of my time enjoying my loved ones. I was recently married on November 2, 2018 to my high school sweetheart, Fran. Over the years we've adopted three animals. Two orange tabby cats, Simba and LeBron, and one pointer bernese mix, Ferguson. We purchased a house together in early 2018, and I've seriously enjoyed making it a home. I love to decorate and have our home display parts of each of us - including my little fur babies. If I'm not teaching, decorating, or being a home body, you can catch me cooking, baking, or spending time with friends and family.
